100,000 sq ft Tesco Superstore

We developed a 100,000 sq ft Tesco Extra Superstore to anchor our 28 acre £75 million, mixed-use regeneration scheme.

We completed a complex land assembly and secured an early commitment to the site from Tesco. Working closely with both Tesco and South Lanarkshire Council, Vico undertook a detailed community consultation programme (including distribution of newsletters to 10,000 local households and businesses) and subsequently secured a detailed consent for 120 residential apartments, 100,000 sq ft of retail and a 150,000 sq ft of business space.

Following an extensive infrastructure, flood prevention and site remediation programme, Tesco recently opened its doors, creating hundreds of jobs and acting as a catalyst for the wider regeneration of the area.

We retain several acres for further development in an area that is set to be transformed given its close proximity to the M74 extension and the venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
