Rutherglen Park
South Lanarkshire
£75 Million mixed-use regeneration project
Rutherglen Park has been developed on the site of the former Dalmarnock Trading Estate and ropeworks factory, redundant, contaminated and flood prone it lay derelict for many years.
We purchased the site and working closely with South Lanarkshire Council promoted a detailed masterplan for the area. Consent was subsequently obtained for 100,000 sq ft foodstore, 120 apartments and 150,000 sq ft of Business Space.
We have completed the first phase comprising a 100,000 sq ft Tesco Extra and a 80,000 sq ft self storage facility for Safestore plc. The residential site has been sold to Barratt and construction will shortly commence for a 47,000 sq ft Business Space development.
The remaining 5 acre site with road/river frontage has been retained for future development. This site is one of the catalyst projects for the Clyde Gateway Initiative. This in conjunction with M74 Extension and the 2014 Commonwealth Games is set to continue the transformation of this area.
This is classic brownfield regeneration at work. Engaging closely with the community through detailed consultation process and the local authority, a derelict and contaminated site has been transformed into a vibrant place in which to work, shop and live. The Reel of Three, located at the entrance to Rutherglen Park is a fine example of developer sponsored public art.
